Can I get compensation from former employer for deformation my character? After being fired for not being a ''good fit'' ,the employer appealed my unemployment benefits & lost .They lied at the appeal and I had witnesses a few of their lies.

Re: deformation of character

Unfortunately there is a OCGA statue that states that anything said in a DOL hearing can not be the subject of a defamation lawsuit.

However, if they repeat such lies to someone outside of the company, then it is possible that could be grounds for a lawsuit.

I do such unemployment hearings and it is important that you have legal representation for such.

As Charles Dickens said "the truth is not enough, hire an attorney." Unfortunately, your former ER lied enough and without vigorous cross examination by your attorney to show such lies the administrative hearing officer accepted them as true.
