Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Employer refusing to pay employee expenses

Long story short: Was wooed by employer for months into abandoning my established business. Started with new co. in May. After 8 wks, (now that my previous business is completely dead) employer decides to "centralize" operations, I get laid off. In the meantime, accrued approx $4000 in travel expenses for co. and my requests for reimbursement are ignored.

FYI: Another employee under similar conditions (former business owner wooed by this co.) voluntarily left, having approx $12,000 in unreimbursed expenses.

What are my options? Does GA have a law regarding employee expense reimbursement?

Re: Employer refusing to pay employee expenses

If the expenses were truly for the company and the company generally reimburses such expenses, they are probably recoverable. You would need to discuss all of the factors with an attorney to have a better idea what your options are.

The foregoing is general information only, not specific legal advice. No attorney/client relationship has been created or should be implied. I recommend that you speak with an attorney of your choosing before taking legal action.
