Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Employer will not pay me
The place I worked at for about 3 years suddenly closed. I received my final paycheck and that is when he asked me to help him remove the stuff the business location i agreed and helped him. It took 11 hours one day and another 3 hours the next day. He told me I would be paid next week as normal (but he would mail my check). I never received my check and this was on Dec. 10th 2008. I have sent him many emails, I have called left voicemails, even sent him text messages letting him know to call me he is completely ignoring me.....There also another employee who has not been paid their final check that was due in November - they too have been calling him but he is completely ignoring him also
what are mu options into getting my money?
I was thinking about filing a complaint with the local DA office (or maybe Dept. of labor)
and I was thinking maybe it would be better if I filed a lawsuit against him....
(at this point it is no longer about the money it is more about the fact that I helped him move in business in, paint wall everything and I worked faithfully for about 3 years while attending

Re: Employer will not pay me
The Department of Labor enforces the payment of wages.
My first choice would be the U.S. DOL's Atlanta Wage and Hour Office. You can get the contact information here:

If you need the Georgia Department of Labor information, it is below:
This website has an email form you fill out to contact them:

You can find the following contact information on their website:

The Department of Labor does enforce payment of wages, but they are very slow as a complaint must be made than they have to investigate the complaint. Frankly, you would probably get your wages faster by taking the company to small claims court. Good luck to you.
