Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Employment offer letter
If an offer letter states: ''This offer is contingent upon your successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen,a ten year background check, providing identification for I-9 verification, and compliance with therequirements of the Immigration Reform Control Act.'', then are these the only requirements for hire?
Nowhere, does this letter state that you must pass a physical which includes, lifting 40lbs, eye exam,or blood preasure check.
I signed and dated this letter and wentto a physical which I failed ecause I was unable to lift 40lbs over my head. Do I have recourse?

Re: Employment offer letter
Understanding that we do not have the paperwork or information about the job .... obviously, they are not the only requirements for hire. For example, you must be qualified for the job. Additionally, was the offer for a specific term (such as one year, two years, etc.)? Most employment is at will, meaning you can be fired for most (not all) reasons, or no reason at all. Thus, even if you got the job, you may have been terminated after a day. The bottom line is that it appears they had certain job requirement, and unfortunately you did not meet them. Keep looking and something will come up.
