If your employer is covered under the FMLA (generally, it must have at least 50 employees in a single location), and you are eligible for FMLA leave (i.e., you have been employed for at least one year and have worked at least 1250 hours over the past 12 months), you can request FMLA leave. Most employers will require you to complete a medical certification form. However, even if you have not submitted the form, your employer is prohibited from interfering with your right to take FMLA leave or retaliating against you for attempting to take it.
