Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Financial responablity
Can the Orthodontist I work for make the assists pay for a drill that was lost. We searched the office and went throught the dumpter 2 times. The Doctor said we are to pay for the drill to teach us a lesson. He also wants to have us sign a paper saying that if anything else is lost we, (the assitants) are to pay.

Re: Financial responablity
It depends on what you mean by "force you to pay." He can certainly ask you to pay for it and, if you refuse, terminate your employment (assuming you are at-will employee). On the other hand, you have the option of simply refusing to pay and see what he does. In addition to firing, he may also seek a civil suit for the cost of the drill if he has a basis to believe that you took it.
