Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

I was just fired from a trucking company who I drive for. I am currently in Laredo, Tx, and live in Atlanta, GA. I work out of the GA Branch. They are making me turn my truck in Laredo and telling me to catch a cab to a hotel, and figure out how to get home on my own. Is this legal
