Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Georgia-Layoff

I was laid off of work on the morning

of October 2, 2008 shortly after I had

the office up and running for the

morning. I received my single page

notification and my layoff was

immediate. This company employs

over 2000 employees across the

southern regions and laid off 500

employs that morning. I had almost

14 years with this company and as of

October 2nd have no health

insurance or any benefits. Have been

diligently looking for a job but

nothing so far. Do I have any legal

rights due to the no warning?

Re: Georgia-Layoff

Yes, there may have been a violation of law when no warnings were given to the laid off EE's. However, the law governing this is very site and fact specific. You should consult with a knowledgeable employment lawyer like myself to see if you have a case that could be pursued.
