Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

The Govenor of Georgia declared a state of emergency this past week due to cold, ice and snow. Govenor Deal went on television asking people to please stay in their homes unless it was an absolute emergency that required them to get out and drive. Is it legal for your place of empolyment to force you to take vacation days for the days missed and force you to come in on Martin Luther King Holiday, when you normally have it off, since this was declared a state of emergency? This place of employment is a local newspaper.

The "state of emergency" has no relevance to the issue - that is mostly a political issue. Otherwise, no one knows the terms of your employment or your employer's rules and regulations for vacation days, snow days, etc. Obviously, many business are open on holidays, and for other businesses, work lost for snow and ice has to be made up. This is part of working for someone else. You likely have an employee/employer dispute, not a legal issue.
