Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Harrassment - Non Sexual

I have recently transferred into a new group and my current manager has made my working environment miserable.

He has called me names, lied to his superiors about my work and uses his position to constantly intimidate me. I have consistently received outstanding appraisals for over 18 years (although I have only been with this company for 1.5 years.) Last year, with this company, I received an outstanding appraisal and received the highest form of recognition offered by the company. I have only been with this manager for 3 months and have never received any written feedback about my performance. He has only met with me individually, twice, frequently canceling any meeting I attempt to schedule.

I am very distressed over this situation as I am very ambitious and looking for growth opportunities. I am unable to sleep, starting to have health problems, etc. because of this treatment.

I realize I can quit and am currently looking for other opportunities, however I really like my job but more so, his treatment of certain individuals should not be tolerated (another of his employees recently quit for the same reasons).

What are my legal options? Can I sue for general harassment?

Re: Harrassment - Non Sexual

There is no general theory for suing someone for being a jerk, or suing them because you don't agree with their management style. If so, the courts would be full of people making such accusations, warranted or not. Basically, your post says that you don't like your boss. You say that he calls you names and intimidates you, then you indicate that he has little contact with you. As for his treatment of others, that is their issue, not yours. Perhaps there are more details that may be relevant to a possible legal action, but the post as written reads as if you, in your opinion, have a jerk as a boss. That is often part of working for someone else.
