i was sick on the 29th of dec. went to the hosp. for about 6 hrs. had iv's put in me had gastraul intestinal virus was'nt allowed to go back to work till the 31's of dec. went back to early came down with it again on the 5th of jan went to my dr that day he wouldn't allow me to return to work until the 12th of jan. returned to work on the 12th well on the 14th my supervisor calls me in his office at evening and wants me to sign a paper saying they were 2 unexcused abs in 30 days, how can dr's slips be unexcused? i wouldn't sign so i called the 1-800-hotline in houston,tx but no answer yet so iam asking what my rights are?

If your company has at least 50 employees, it is required to comply with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). If you have been employed there for at least one year and have worked at least 1250 hours during the past twelve months, you are covered under the FMLA. The FMLA requires employers to provide qualifying employees with up to twelve weeks of unpaid leave for serious health conditions and other reasons not applicable here. If you notified the employer of an FMLA-qualifying reason for the absences, they cannot discipline you for them.
