Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Indepent Contractor Not Recieved Final Check

I worked as an independent contractor for a pool company out of Atlanta,GA from April 2007 - Aug 2007 and have yet to receive my final commission check which is in excess of $5000.00. I have called several times to complain and they have given me several dates as to when the check would be mailed to me and the dates have passed and everytime I call back they give me an excuse and another date a few weeks away. I am tired of playing this cat and mouse game with them and need the money owed to me. I basically need to know what options I have at this point cause I feel that two months is plenty of time to get the check to me!

Re: Indepent Contractor Not Recieved Final Check

If you have exhausted all informal remedies, I usually recommend having an attorney send a demand letter for the money owed with a specific deadline to respond. If they fail to respond, you can then file suit (probably in Magistrate, or small claims, Court considering the low amount of money involved).
