Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Involuntary Unemployment
I interviewed for a job that gave me an offer that I turned down due to salary. I then received a counter-offer that I accepted. I left a job of 6.5 years to accept this opportunity, and 15 days after starting with them, they laid me off due to lack of work, leaving me unemployed. Do I have any case at all, including in small claims court?

Re: Involuntary Unemployment
Unless you have a contract, employment is "at will" and this was a risk in accepting the new job. For that matter, it is a risk in most jobs. The remedy would have been to request a contract for a certain period of time, or a provision for severence.
