Laid-off lack of work a mo ago, position was just filled by internal emply

I was laid-off 2-25-09, sepration notice states ''lack of work'', along with numerous other employees. I found out today that my position was filled with an existing employee without offering it back to me. Is there any recourse for this?

Aside from issues like union contracts, whether a large percentage of employees were laid off triggering other laws, etc., which are not raised in the facts, there is no general right to a job at all. Filling jobs with existing employees is standard after a layoff, for obvious reasons -- the work has to get done with fewer employees.
