Am I locked in ?
Agreed to stay with company for 5 years via email. No other stipulations. If I leave early, say 3 years into the 5, what legal actions can be taken by my employer?

Without knowing the terms of the agreement, if you breach any term of that agreement, you may be sued for the damages caused by your breach. In addition, there may be some language that sets out a specific figure with regard to damages. I would suggest having an attorney review the agreement and then answer your questions and address your concerns.
