Non-Compete / Non-solicitation agreement

I was an employee of a cable direct sales contractor in Atlanta georgia. They had me to sign a non-compete/non-solicitation agreement which enables me not to work for another direct sales company for 2 years after my departure. I want to know if this non-compete contract is valid or illegal and has no power at all over me to get another job in the same field of business!

Already Tried:

I have looked up similar cases online (one in particular the stockbroker case in May 2005, now in this case not only did they say that this was illegal in Georgia I think they also was saying that they were pushing to get this type of issue to be illegal or non valid nationwide) but I want a certain and definite answer so I can know what my next step can be in regards to employment.

If you want a "safe a definite answer," there is only one way to get that - have a lawyer with experience in the area review the contract.

I agree with Mr. Riddle, but will add that two years have been upheld by Georgia courts as long as, put simply, the scope of the limitation and geographic area are commiserate with the employees duties and area of work.
