Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Non-Payment for services and slander of name
Hi,
I worked for a mortgage company. I resigned 3 weeks ago today and the employer is refusing to pay me. My pay was 2 weeks late at the time of my resignation. I have had serves disconnected requiring me to pay restoral fee and also receive late fees. Can I receive compensation fee those fees in court? The employer has also began slandering my name stating that I left with files incomplete. This is not true. How much evidance is acceptable in a small claims court.
This employer is good about lieing even destorying documents. What can I be compensated for. Can I sue for slander of name if I have witnesses? What are my rights?

Re: Non-Payment for services and slander of name
You could recover any salary owed to you for work done and conceivably get the restoration fees, although I am not clear on the facts surrounding the disconnection of service. You may also recover for defamation if your employer tells other people things that are not true about you. There is no set amount of evidence that is acceptable in magistrate court; it is up to the judge whether to consider evidence.
