Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Overtime Pay
I have worked 24 hours in overtime for my company and I have just learned from upper managment they will not pay time and a half. I was told they will pay me what is called (under the table) straight time with a seprate check or cash for the extra hours worked. I checked with Georgia's Dept. of Labor under the Fair Labor Standards Act and found they are breaking the law. I want to confront the company with this information, but I want to know the legal ramifictions of the confrontation. Can I be fired by being a whistle blower, what is my legal backing on this issue?

Re: Overtime Pay
You cannot be fired as a retaliatory action for the whistle blowing. But they may terminate your employment for any other reason that does not violate your civil rights.
