Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Passing a promotion to family

I have worked for a company and I was offered a position for crew trainer but nothing ever became of it. The next week, the manager's daughter became a manager and the position should have been mine because I know more and have been there longer. What should I do?

Re: Passing a promotion to family

Unless you have a contract ragarding the job or promotion, you can probably do nothing. Employment (and, by extension, promotions, raises, etc.) is generally "at will." Relationships are one of the primary methods of getting jobs and promotions, and it is generally the employer's/manager's privilege to hire and promote as they choose. Of course, there are exceptions such as age, gender, etc. discrimination, but those are not raised in your post.
