Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Last Paycheck
I recently wrote my employer of about 1 month letting them know that I would not be able to continue working with them due to health issues. I did not provide the standard two weeks notice due to the aforementioned issues.
I have requested my final paycheck be mailed to me three times now. My former boss replied stating she can't send the check b/c it is in 'the safe'. I feel this is an act of hostility. They would open the safe if I came in, hence why can't they open it and place the check in an envelope? I am experiencing an array of mental health issues and don't desire to place myself in any sort of hostile situation. I also suspect that they will come up with some odd reason as to why they can not open the safe when I come in (owner isn't there, etc).
Can I request it be mailed in Georgia or have someone pick it up on my behalf by law?

The employer is obligated by law to pay you. They are not obligated to mail it and they are unlikely to give it to someone else. Go pick it up.
Do you want to go pick up your check, have the money, and conclude your relationship with the employer, or do you want to dwell on what you believe is an "act of hostility," post on internet forums, worry about things that haven't happened, and drag this issue out indefinitely?
