Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Prevention of employment

I work for Company A. I am contracted to Company B. Company B is not satisfied with Company As services and is canceling my contract. Company B wants to hire me but can not due to a non compete clause in their contract with company A. Company A has no work for me in my state and will not pay for me to relocate. Basically, Company A is preventing me from working for company B because they will not give company A release letter. Do I have any legal recourse with company A for preventing me from having employment.

Re: Prevention of employment

There is a fine line. You do not tell us how Company A is PREVENTING you from getting employment - you just state how they are not HELPING you by taking an action they might not have to take (ie, waiving a claim against B for hiring you). Making some assumptions, you can't get a job because B won't hire you due to their contract with A, rather than A actively doing anything directed to you. If A and B have a valid contract, and B does not want to risk breaching it, you might be out of luck. You might also find that threats of dragging B into a legal battle would not be something that is worth it to them. But .. you can lay it all out to a lawyer to see what is there.
