Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Hi! My question is work related and about getting pay.

I worked as a teacher at a preschool/daycare in Georgia. I resigned last December because of a pay cheque they gave me that bounced (they paid me for that later on), but I was never paid the last paycheck after that for the last week that I was there. I kept calling and they kept saying they already sent the cheque in the mail (3 weeks ago) and now it's almost February so I said I would go there to pick it up personally since I only live 10 miles from work and it doesn't take even a week to get mail from anywhere in Georgia. Now, they told me they would put a stop on the cheque and that they'd write me a new one if I dropped by BUT I would have to pay them $30 before they would pay me. It sounds ridiculous to me, especially since how do I know they even mailed me a cheque in the first place, and even if they did 3 weeks ago like they said, why should I pay $30?? I already have little pay as it is, so that would be like half a day's work I won't get paid for.

They would be required to pay you the agreed upon rate for time already worked. You may report the company to the Georgia Department of Labor for minimum wage violations as well as threaten and possibly pursue a civil action for breach of contract for non-payment.
