Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
I recently submitted a question regarding Overtime and AUO and I received an email stating there was not enough information in the question. I will attempt to include more information. I have an federal employment labor law question regarding what is called AUO (Annual Uncontrollable Overtime) and actual Overtime. I currently work as an Immigration Enforcement Agent (6-C law enforcement) for the Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Atlanta, GA. My shift is M-F 0700-1500 hrs. (thats 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM) Monday through Friday.
I am currently working the Criminal Alien Program where we go to prisons, identify people not from this country that have committed serious crimes against the people of the United States and prosecute them for removal from the United States to their country of nationality. We are required to travel extensive distances to get to these locations. My supervisor is requiring me to report to the office at 0500 (5:00AM) on these days and telling me my shift is being changed only on these days (to avoid paying overtime). I ride the bus to work and I have to find alternate transportation prior to 0400 (4:00AM) to get to work. It also places undue stress on me to keep adjusting my sleep schedule. Can you advise me on what can be done to remedy this situation?

It looks like you simply have a complaint about the requirements of your job, and required shifts and hours. The "remedy" is usually to find a job more suitable to your lifestyle.
