Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

re-hiring from lay-off

i've been laid off for 5 months now and now i have been told i'm needed back at work. is my employer allowed to lower my wages if im going to be doing the same job as before? it just doesn't seem right that they can cut my pay by almost half just because i was laid off.

Re: re-hiring from lay-off

Yes, as long as the pay comports with minimum wage laws.

Re: re-hiring from lay-off

At-will employees can generally have their pay cut even while they are still employed as long as it is at least minimum wage. Of course, if the employee does not like the change, they are free to look for other employment.
