Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Rescinded Job Offer

A company made me a job offer and required me to give notice of resignation to my current employer. The expected new employer didn't call me until the last day of my resignation to rescind their offer. Their offer was rescinded based on an inaccurate Criminal Background report. Offenses reported as criminal felony when indeed misdemeanor and traffic. Now my children have no dental. Is either the employer or investigator legally liable?

Re: Rescinded Job Offer

You mention nothing but a job offer. Even if you went to work for them, did you have a contract for a certain period of time? If not, you may have been terminated after one day, for no reason. This is a choice anyone makes when changing jobs. You don't provide sufficient information about the report, but the problem is, again, you (apparently) had no right to a job to begin with. You certainly want to correct any consumer/criminal reports with the company that produces them.
