sign on bonus

yes, I have a question about sign on bonus that was a 2 year agreement to work for a company. I have fulfilled about 70% of the 2 years but have since resigned because of circumstances at work. Also, the company I signed on with no longer exist and has been bought out by another company. Am I obligated to pay this back although I do not want to work with this new company? Please reply.

You mention an agreement, but say nothing about what is says about the bonus, obligation to pay it back, etc. That is the first place you look for your answer. If you have an obligation to pay it back, that does not necessarily go away when the company is purchased by another company. Again, we have no facts about that either.
