Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Sneaky tactic by my employer

I started working at this place 18

months ago. I signed a 3 year

contract with them. Now my

employer is asking me to sign a

release agreement so that they can

put me on non-productive status to

get rid of me. They are not firing me

because as per contract they have

to give me a reason if they fire me.

When I asked a reason.. they said

mgmt has several reasons. I never

had any issue at my work. This is

sudden and surprise to me. Plus

they knew that I was going on a

month long vacation from 25th and

i won't have time to respond to

this. So, they are not firing me but

want me to quit. what should I do?

?

Re: Sneaky tactic by my employer

No one here knows what your contract provides, what the new documents provide, the type of job, and many other relevant facts. You won't likely get responses telling you what to do, other than see a lawyer to review the documents and facts.

Re: Sneaky tactic by my employer

I recommend that you not sign anything until you consult with an attorney, like myself, that specializes in labor and employment law in Georgia. I would like to review your employment contract and the release agreement so that I can advise you on the best course of action. If necessary, I could also negotiate with the employer on your behalf.
