Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
subject
I was working with a cleaning company for about three months. Three days ago my manager informed my partner and I that a lady from one of the houses we cleaned called to report that a diamond ring was missing. We had been the only one in that house. He told us that he works with a private detective, he had us fill out a series of pages with questions related to the subject. He explained that the private detective would analyse them and determine who did it. I did not take anything, so I was not worried about it. The next day he calls me into his office and tells me that he and the private detective have absolutely no doubt that I did it. I thaught it was a joke, but he proceded to tell me that I had to bring the ring back or they would call the police. I told him that they had to call the cops to investigate more. He fired me on the spot and I told him that I would call him to find out what was going to be done about it.I then called the sherrifs office to find out what I could do to protect my self and the said that I could volunteer to take a lie detection test. I then called my manager and informed him about it and asked him for the private detectives number ,but he could not provide me with such, and this is where I am at.

Re: subject
I would strongly advise you to contact a local attorney. You didn't specifically ask a question, but I imagine you have, or will have, a number of questions if they continue to pursue the case. My first piece of advice would have been to not fill out the questionnaire.
If you would like to discuss any issues further, please feel free to contact my office. My contact information is below. Thank you.
