Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Can I sue for mental distress?
I reported to my district manager that I was afraid to work with my manager after questioning him about a bad report he gave to her about me, per her instructions. He told me he would talk to me in the back & then started screaming at me! I told her I did not feel safe & asked if I could continue to train in another office. She dismissed me and said report to that office in the morning. I was so fearful the next day I called in towork to avoid him. I decided to use the opendoor policy & contacted her boss. After speaking with her boss he said he will have her address the situation immediately. She then called me and on the phone and began yelling at me that I will never advance in the company since I went over her head. And of course I didnt! I was hired as a customer service rep. with hopes of becoming a manager soon.My job performance was so well that she sent me to one store to work as an assitant mangr, and another store to run it bymyself. without the pay or promotion, after questioning why I wasnt promoted her response was,I should not have gone over her head. I reported it again and her boss said since we couldnt get along he was transfering me. I later quit because of all the stress. I am on antidepressants & muscle relaxer

Re: Can I sue for mental distress?
Generally, not getting along with bosses or co-workers, or disagreeing with the employer's decisions, does not give rise to a lawsuit. If so, the courts would be overflowing with such cases.
