Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Suspended from job by employer, false theft accusation !!
My employer/supervisor of a small electronics distribution company has accused me of stealing a LCD TV from the inventory. I was suspended until further notice by a private investigator hired by my employer who was out of the office at the time I was informed. It has now been now 2 weeks & no one has attempted to contact me to update me of the situation. At the time of my suspension I had already worked a full 2 weeks & have still NOT been paid. My personal property is still at work including my own flat screen PC monitor. I have requested obtaining these items but to no avail as my supervisor states he's currently too busy and refers this to a future time. I was newly hired and had been employed for about 100 days or so (past my 90 day probation period, although I was never given an evaluation). I am NOT involved with the theft of this TV and do not know who may have stolen it, but I have noted several unusual incidents that do cast some doubt on some other coworkers. My employer has not provided or indicated to me that any proof of this accusation exists or not. No legal charges have been filed with authorities as far as I know. What are my options in obtaining my pay, personal items & damages to my reputation ?

Re: Suspended from job by employer, false theft accusation !!
You would have two separate, but related cases for the return of your personal property and outstanding pay, and for potential defamation for damage to reputation.
