Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

timely termination

how long can an employer wait to terminate someone? i was fired 10 days after the issue.

i am a retail store manager and i was late opening my store. in almost 5 years i had been late once before and was never written up for it. i had no idea i would be fired and he gave me no seperation papers. i think he needed me to run the store for 2 weekends until he could hire a replacement. my boss did not have any conversations with me until he fired me 10 days after the fact.

Re: timely termination

In Georgia, unless you have a contract that states otherwise, you can be fired any time, for any reason, or for no reason. There are few exceptions. On the flip side, employees can quit at any time.
