Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Verbally Abusive Boss

Hello.

I currently work in sales for a large pharmaceutical company and have a boss who's made some seemingly inappropriate comments about me and my performance. I'd like to know if I have any legal recourse or job protection based on her comments.

1) I'll be upfront and say some of the sales numbers connected to my performance have been below expectations over the past 2 years. However, I work on a sales team of 7 people who all share some responsiblity for the results.

2) My boss, a single woman in her 50's, has said she believes I am ineffective in my sales performance and has made several disparaging remarks to support her case:

*she said, ''You are getting older and I think you're slowing down, not as effective as you used to be.'' I am 41 years old and have been with the company for 10 years.

*she noted that I have taken sick time to take care of my kids and said, ''If you're going to stay home with your kids, you should be a stay-at-home mom.'' Note, I am a 41-year-old married, male.

*she also said I sometimes ''stutter'' and she finds it distracting and thiks customer do as well, rendering me ineffective.

I find her comments to be insulting and degrading. Am I wrong? Do I have any legal options. Thanks.

Probably not. There is no legal recourse for a boss who is simply a jerk. Of course, you can always find another job.
