Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Wage Reduction
My supervisor of 3 1/2 years has always told me I do not have to clock out for doctor's appointments. An employee with a job title equal to mine is now doing my time and has complained to our Human Resources Deparment that I should be docked for this time. I was told yesterday that they are taking 1 hour out of last week's paycheck for my appointment. My question is, is this legal since my supervisor has told me otherwise. I feel I am being treated unfaily because if I had known this prior to making the appointment, I could have made it before my work day began.

Re: Wage Reduction
Practically speaking, you can argue your point about the one lost hour (when you really did not work for the wages), and risk making a longer lasting negative impression on management. They may feel they have two problems -- the employee getting paid for time not worked, and the supervisor who allows it.
