Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

work ethics

Recently at work I interviewed for a position that would be a promotion. I did not get the promotion. I shared how the interview went, who was there and what was asked of me along with reasons given why I didn't get the job. Now my manager is trying to put it on my record that I was violating confidentiality for shareing with other employees and could be fired from doing so. I was never asked to keep interview confidential. I only discussed my interview. No mention of money or others who had interviewed for same position was mentioned. Could I be fired or disciplined for this?

Re: work ethics

In Georgia, employment is generally "at will." Employees without a contract can generally be terminated for any or no reason, with the exception of a small list of discriminatory reasons not raised by your post. If you have an employee handbook, it may provide other rights, though generally employers do not write those in such a way to limit their ability to make such decisions.
