Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

I work for a private company that is being bought out by a corporation effective Feb. 1, 2010. The corporation is telling everyone that they will still have a job but I have my doubts. I do not want to work for this corporation, can I legally ask my current employer to give me a pink slip stating that the company has gone out of business effective on the last day of January so that I can draw unemployment & find my own job?
