Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Wrongfully Terminated/Escape Goat

I was fired over the phone when my boss called to tell me that $2000 was missing from the safe over the weekend. He said he was not accusing me because he couldn't prove it so he was firing everyone. I'm the only one who was fired. I'm innocent and now people thinks I did it because i'm the only one that got fired. What can I do? I live in a small community. There was others that worked and that had access to the money. The safe is broken and anyone could access it. The manager and his wife who works there also worked that weekend. How do I know that they didn't do it?

Re: Wrongfully Terminated/Escape Goat

Most employment in Georgia is "at will" and you can be terminated for any or no reason (except for a very limited number of discriminatory reasons not raised in your post). In addition, from your post, even if they think you did it (which is just an assumption), no one is actually accusing you of anything. One thing that you should not do is accuse anyone else (such as the manager and his wide) of taking the money. That could make a bad situation even worse.
