Adding tenants to new leases

Does my landlord have the right to deny me adding a tenant to my lease?....i was informed upon signing my lease that if i needed to add someone to let her know and when i tried to do so i was told i would not be able to.

No one here has a copy of the contract to see what your landlord has a right to do. However, it is very unusual for a contract to allow one party to change it without the consent of the other party. That would usually defeat the purpose of having a contract to begin with.
