Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

apartment charges

My landlord is wanting to charge me for damages to my apartment due to a recent break in. She is wanting to replace the carpet and the kitchen flooring and the doors. I never paid a deposit on the apartment, so can I just tell her that its her problem?

Re: apartment charges

Your post does not reference a lease or terms, but whether or not you have a deposit is likely unrelated to your liability for damages (if you are liable). Your proposal of blowing it off is a great way to go through life with lawsuits, poor credit, job issues, housing issues, and many other problems. That might start with a lawsuit by the landlord and problems renting another apartment because of a negative report. Speak to the landlord and resolve it.
