Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

apartment walk through before move in

My room mate and i signed a lease on June 13 with a set move in date for July 19. I recently called the apartment complex to schedule a walk through of the apartment for thursday the 17th. I was informed that we would have to do the walk through the day of move in. Essentially they want my money with no responsibility for what the apartment looks like. Is there anything protecting renters from this? Is there any way for me to ensure that this apartment, that i'm paying good money for, is in good shape before i move in?

Re: apartment walk through before move in

Your "protection" is the lease you signed. Does it say that an inspection must take place before the move-in date? If you wanted extra protections, such as an inspection days prior to move-in, you should have put it in the lease before signing, though they might have asked for rent for the extra days the unit is tied up.
