Blank contarcts- adding dates without all partties
I signed a lease contarct 2 weeks early to may mmove in date. the contarct was balnk. no begining or ending dates. the contarct was mail with a $300 deposit to hold the condos off market. A sistuattion now has come up and I will no longer be moving into the condo. The landlord is now trying to charge for a 30 days notice and early termination fee of $890.00 each. could the landlord hold me responsible for this fees althought I have yet to take possesion of the condo and keys. Actual move in date agreed on by me and landlord was 04/01/06. I called to canceld on 03/23/06. Help! is what he is doing correct?

Re: Blank contarcts- adding dates without all partties
Read your contract. What does it say about termination? Does it say it is not binding until you pick up the keys and take possession? You should always assume that a contract is binding the second you sign your name, unless it clerarly says otherwise. What if you showed up with a moving van ready to move in and the landlord said "Sorry...I rented it to someone else since you had not taken possession." Works both ways. Read your contracts and understand them before you sign them.
