Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
college apt leases
My daughter filled out an application for an apt she was already living in in Statesboro, Ga. for school back in Feb. 06. The same week she filled out one and paid deposits at a new apt. This all happened during the time my father was dying of cancer, which he passed 3/15/06. I was told by the old apt I had to have everyhing moved out by 7/31/06 noon,I told them myself she was moving and wondered if we could have an extra day being that she was moving in the new apt 8/1/06. They told me no and everyone had to abide by the rule. My family went from Evans, Ga.(home) to the apt to pack her up and clean up. I had my daughter drive the keys back on 7/28/06 to turn in and have a walk through the apt and she was then told she was still tied to another year lease. I called them but they were rude and told me even though I was guarantor and did not sign, my signature from the original contract carries over as long as my daughter wants to renew.(Even though she does not have a time to pay any rent. The notary signature expired 6/06 and there is not a new one on the new lease yet. I receive a letter stating they need my daughters signature/initials on a page for mthly price change,we haven't signed it.
help....Am I stuck w/2 leases anyway?

The daily details are, for the most part, not relevant. The written documents are, but you didn't tell us what they say.
