Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
I am a family who is currently living with another relative (a sister). She has, within the last days of August, filed an dispossessory against me. I submitted my answer and had to go to trial today. Unfortunately, the judge ruled in her favor despite the lack of evidence for her claims. The judge ruled that I must move out of her home within seven (7) days and that I owe her $700 + court cost. The judge also stated the process for an appeal, however, I dont have the funds to pay for such a thing. Although, within the time I was in my sisters home, I have had $400 in total, $100 at one time and $300 at another time gone missing within her home. Therefore, my question is, is there a way I can take the case further and also can I make case for my amount of money that went missing within her home?

First, when you say the "lack of evidence" for the dispossessory, in a case like this the "evidence" is her wanting you out and that she gave you notice. It is not clear why you would want to continue to live there, but now you have been ordered to leave and at some point the sheriff or marshall will show up to move your belongings to the street. If you have a claim against your sister, you can file a case in Magistrate Court. Keep in mind it takes more than just saying money is missing, and Judges are used to such claims coming up after a dispossessory. If you are just searching for any way to stay in your sister's house longer and longer, it is best to move on.
