Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

My husband was on a lease of an apartment with 2 other roomates, one of the roomates set the kitchen on fire because of his own negligence. He is willing to take full responsiblity for it, but the damage amout has not been paid so it is on everyones credit report. Now the credit reporting agency is threatening to garnish my husbands wages for the full amount. What should we do? Do we just pay it in full even though it wasnt my husbands fault? We need this off of his credit. The other two roomates doesnt really seem to care. Thanks so much for your help!

You would have the option to pay off the amount and then pursue payment against the former roommate for the amounts you have to pay. In order to get it off his credit, the amount has to be paid somehow.
