Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

My husband and I have been renting a house from my brother in law for a year now. We have never had a lease. My sister (his wife) sent me a text message saying we needed to move out because they needed to move back to this house due to financial issues. How long do we have to find a new place? Also, if they have issued this type of eviction do we have to pay rent? They told us April 28th, rent is due on May 1st. Do we have to pay it?

You have to pay rent on time

Appears that notice to vacate is defective

Landlord has to give 60-day notice (even if family member)
