Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

A judgment has been obtained for a tenant owing back rent. Garnishment notification was sent to the registered agent of the tenant's employer. Tenant was served notification as well. Registered Agent did not respond within the allotted time frame. The State Court Garnishment Division told me they do nothing and I had to speak with a lawyer to determine next step. Please advise what is required at this point to recoup the debt. Is garnishment a lost option? Is the Registered Agent not required to respond?

A registered agent's job is generally to merely accept service and forward the suit to their client. The agent may be a lawyer, and may be the person who represents the client in the suit, but that would be by agreement of them. There is no general requirement the agent do anything in the suit. What the employer has to do, if anything, is based on facts we do not have. As you have been advised, see a lawyer.
