Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Our landlord had us make the security deposit out to her name instead of the business name saying that since it's her business it does not matter. Many rent checks were sent this way as well. I recently found out she is not the owner. Is this legal?

Also, we had to move unexpectedly due to a massive water leak the landlord would not fix....we are demanding our security deposit back. In doing research I found out that the business had been administratively dissolved in September.

Does this void our contract?
