Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

hi. i live in an apartment owned by a friends father with his daughter (mary) and my best friend (ashley) and we have had a lease before, but it expired in july...however we never renewed it for this year, and we never made a new one....ashley and i are moving out & the other girls father said that there are laws in georgia that prohibit us from leaving... but the thing is, we never had a lease. he called me and said that i would be hearing from his lawyer, and im really scared...i dont understand what will happen. his daughter makes living there pure hell for us, and its unfair to stay there.

Once the lease expired, you became Tenants at Will. This means that you need to give 30 days notice to terminate the lease. Consult with a local attorney.
