Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
I have been living in this apartment complex for the past five years. In 2008, I was given a concession because I was asked to give after school tutoring services from 4-6 on Tues. & Thurs. My concession was that my rent would be $300 per month in exchange for the tutoring which was written on my lease in 2008. When my renewal came up in 2009, the payments and tutoring continued but there was no addendum on my lease and when I asked about it, I was told that there wasn't a problem and they would get around to it. Several times I asked and was told the same thing. Two months ago, a different management company took over and on 5/18/10 I was given a list of demands for the continuation of tutoring and was told to 'take them with me'. When I went over for tutoring on 5/20/10 the apt. manager had several people in her office and was unavailable prior to the students coming in for class. The manager left at 5:30 and I was not able to meet with her. When I opened the door to my apartment, there was a letter stating my rent would be $705 and they would be expecting that on 06/01/10. I have read the lease and I am supposed to have at the very least a 30 day notice of any increase. I am unemployed now and I can't afford $705 a month so I will be moving. It would help that I would only have to pay this increased rate just one month instead of being evicted for non-payment from now until November. What are my options?

No one here has the lease, documents for the concessions, etc., and you only briefly refer to the lease. You do not even stats how much your lease rate is to begin with. Read your paperwork and you will likely find the answers.
