Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
Military and Lease/Rental Law
I co-signed a 2 year lease with a
military member. He has since gotten
orders for deployment and is getting
out of the lease because of that.
Does that leave me legally
responsible for his half of the rent
AND my half? How can I get out of
the lease? Does the same law that
applies to him apply to me?

Re: Military and Lease/Rental Law
We do not have your lease to review. In virtually all leases, all parties are liable for all rent, not just half or a third. These are obligations that should be considered before signing. I am not sure why you believe the law would apply to you, unless you are in the military and got deployed.
