Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Moldy apartment

Am renting 1 BR partial basement-type apt. Walls, wooden cabinets, table and chairs developed mold since moving in 3 months ago. Contacted landlord, no response. Took photos, cleaned mold, contacted landlord again 2 weeks later (still no response). Apt. is unusually humid. Borrowed old dehumidifier which works fairly well. Take one 7 minute shower daily (with bathroom vent running), am at work all day otherwise. No pets, no standing water, no leaks, nothing ever spilled, no food sits out, no negligence whatsoever. Is kept very clean. Rental agency will not give me name of property owner (all correspondences have occurred through the rental agency). Can they legally withhold the owner's name from me? The mold problem is not out of hand yet but is costing a fortune in electricity to run dehumidifier plus regular scrubbing of walls, kitchen cabinets, tables and chairs. At this point, should I continue making requests or seek legal assistance? Thank you very much.

Re: Moldy apartment

Any claim you may have would be against the signatory on the lease agreement because your claim would be for a breach of the lease agreement. You have a few options with regard to legal action. You may terminate the lease and move out, terminate and sue for damages, or stay in the apartment and sue for damages. I would recommend filing any action in magistrate (small claims) court and keep your damage request under $15,000.00.
